Third-Party Licences & Marks
Effective date: 9 October 2026 · Version 1.0
Apeiron is our own software, built on open components. They stay under their own licences, which take precedence over the Apeiron Terms of Use for those components.
We write these documents in good faith and keep them accurate to how the software actually works. They have not yet been reviewed by qualified Estonian legal counsel.
1. Components
| Component | What it is used for | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Tauri and its plugins | The application shell: windows, tray, system calls | MIT or Apache-2.0 |
| Rust standard library and crates (reqwest, tokio, serde, rustls, sysinfo, image, blake3, zstd, ed25519 and others) | The program's engine: network, downloads, hashing, signatures, compression | MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD or similar permissive licences |
| Microsoft Edge WebView2 | Draws the interface | Microsoft's WebView2 licence; it is a Windows component, not shipped by us |
| React | The interface | MIT |
| Geist and Geist Mono fonts | Text | SIL Open Font License 1.1 |
| Material Symbols | Icons | Apache-2.0 |
| FFmpeg (LGPL build) | Encoding clips; downloaded as a separate component | LGPL-2.1+. It runs as a separate program; we do not modify it |
| SYNX | Our own configuration format | Our own, published open source |
FFmpeg. The clip recorder uses an unmodified LGPL build of FFmpeg without
any GPL parts. It is a separate executable that Apeiron starts; you can replace it
with your own build of the same name in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\APERTURESyndicate\Apeiron\components\ffmpeg\bin\. The FFmpeg
source and licence are available from ffmpeg.org and from
the build's publisher; ask [email protected] if you cannot find them.
The full list of crates and their licences is generated from the build and available on request at [email protected].
2. Trademarks
"Apeiron", "ASInstaller" and the cloud-with-arrow mark are ours. APERTURESyndicate, Resonance, ASAI, Rebellion and Minidi are trademarks or names of APERTURESyndicate OÜ or its products.
Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Discord, Telegram, Spotify, Windows, NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and the names of the games and programs in your library belong to their owners. They are used only to identify the software — in your library, on artwork we fetch for it, or in the settings — and do not mean that any of them sponsors, endorses or is affiliated with Apeiron.
Cover art for games that are not from Steam is loaded from Steam's public store pages only to show you your own library; it stays the property of its owners (see Privacy Notice on how to turn that off).
3. Reporting a problem
If you think Apeiron shows or uses something it should not — a mark, an image, a component — write to [email protected]; the process is in Copyright & Takedown.
