This document describes how publishing works on ASAI: who can publish characters and worlds to the public library, what the obligations are, and what happens if they are broken.

1. What this is
Publishing lets other ASAI users find and chat with characters and worlds you have built. Your name appears on them; your library page collects them.
That is the whole of it. There is no rewards tier, no earnings from us, and no ranking to climb. If you want readers to be able to support you, that is what support links are for (Section 3).
2. What you need to publish
2.1 An account
Any ASAI account can publish, including Free. No subscription is needed, and there is no limit on how many works you publish.
2.2 A verified email address
Standard for any account.
2.3 To be at least 13
Which is the minimum age for an ASAI account at all. See Age & Eligibility.
2.4 Nothing else
No identity verification. No portfolio review. No application, no waiting list, and no approval step.
Two automatic checks run when you publish, and neither looks at what your work says. A work over the size ceiling is refused until it is lighter (Worlds & Characters, Section 3). An account publishing in a pattern that looks automated — many works in an hour, near-copies of one another, an even machine rhythm, near-empty cards — has publishing to the library held for a limited time and is flagged for support, who can lift the hold early. A person moving thirty finished cards in one evening is not what this check is for, and work with real text and images counts in your favour.
3. Publishing, editing, unpublishing
Publishing is immediate — the character appears in the library straight away, with no review beforehand. You can also publish a character without listing it: it then plays in your published worlds and opens by link, but stays out of the Discover list. See Publication & Review for exactly what does and does not happen at that moment.
Editing a published character takes effect immediately as well. There is no re-review.
Unpublishing is a single action and takes effect at once. The character reverts to a private draft in your account. Chats other people started from it end, and new users can no longer find it.
What readers see. Each published work shows how many people have played it, how many have saved it, and its average star rating with the number of ratings. Only someone who has actually played a work can rate it, one rating each, and nobody can rate their own. As the author you also see how many times the page was viewed.
Support links. A character and a world each have a Support the author field: up to three links to your page on Patreon, Boosty, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, SubscribeStar, pixiv FANBOX or DonationAlerts, one per platform. Readers see them at the foot of the work's page — not in the header and not in the chat. The field does not accept links to other services — social networks, messengers, personal sites or shops. The links never reach the model; the character does not know about them and does not mention them. The detailed rules are in the Content Policy, Section 2.12.
How Discover orders works. You can sort by newest, by most played, or by For you, which puts first the works whose tags and genre match what is already in your own library. Reports you have made and authors you have blocked are left out of what you see. There is no leaderboard of authors.
4. What does not exist
An earlier version of this document described a rewards and ratings system in considerable detail. Much of it was aspirational and should never have been published as fact. To be explicit:
- There are no Creator Credits. No compute is credited to you for publishing, no formula, no daily cap. There is no ledger, no balance, and nothing to spend.
- Ratings are a plain average. There is no weighting, no minimum-ratings threshold and no confidence indicator — the number of ratings is shown next to the average so you can judge it yourself.
- There is no identity verification for creators. No third-party verification service is connected to ASAI.
- There is no creator analytics dashboard beyond the figures listed in Section 3.
- There are no monetary payouts from us, and none are planned. Support links (Section 3) lead to third-party platforms: money goes from the reader straight to the author, outside ASAI; we take no part in those payments and take no cut of them.
If any of this is ever built, it will be described here once it works, with its own terms — not before.
5. What you are agreeing to when you publish
5.1 The content rules apply
Everything in the Content Policy and the Community Guidelines applies to published characters and worlds. Publishing something that breaks them is a breach whether or not anything stopped you at the time — nothing checks content at publication.
5.2 You are responsible for the rights
You confirm that you have the right to use the images, text, and other material in what you publish. See IP Policy.
5.3 We can unpublish it
Where content is reported and found to breach the rules, or where a rightsholder or authority requires it, we can unpublish it, hide it from the Discover listings, correct the published copy, or delete it. You will be told which rule was involved and what we did — Article 17 of the EU Digital Services Act.
5.4 You license us to host and display it
Publishing grants us the licence needed to store, display, and serve your content to other users for as long as it is published. It is non-exclusive, it does not transfer ownership, and it ends when you unpublish. See the Terms of Service.
6. Conduct rules for creators
- Don't publish characters that target real ASAI users — parodying, mocking, or harassing a specific person is not creative work.
- Don't republish someone else's published character as your own.
- Don't use misleading tags or descriptions to attract traffic to something else.
- Don't design characters that manufacture dependency — love-bombing, isolation patterns, "you can't leave me" mechanics. This is prohibited by the Content Policy and it is the one we care about most.
- Don't write instructions into a character intended to push the model past the content rules.
- Don't make a character or a world earn from the reader. No instructions that put links, requests to donate, subscribe, pay, visit your page, or give five stars, a rating or a review into its lines. The Support the author field is the only place for support. Details: Content Policy, Section 2.12.
- Don't inflate ratings. Don't ask for ratings in exchange for anything, and don't rate your own work from other accounts.
- Only your own page goes in the Support the author field. Don't put other people's pages there, and don't rent the space out for advertising.
Breaches are handled under the enforcement ladder in the Acceptable Use Policy, Section 9: warning, content removal, loss of publishing rights, suspension, termination.
7. Tax
Publishing on ASAI generates, by itself, no income, no credits and no thing of value: we pay creators nothing and issue no tax documentation, because no money moves through us.
If readers support you through a support link, that is your income on a third-party platform. Recording and declaring it is your obligation under the laws of your country; the platform, not ASAI, issues any documents for it.
If that ever changes, it will be a separate programme with its own terms.
8. Ending your participation
By you: unpublish your characters and worlds. Nothing is deleted, and cancelling a subscription does not unpublish anything.
By us: we can withdraw publishing rights for breach of the rules, or discontinue public publishing entirely on 30 days' notice. Publishing is a product feature, not a contractual entitlement.
9. If you think we got it wrong
Write to [email protected] and explain why. A human reads it and can reverse the decision. As a micro enterprise we are exempt under Article 19 of the EU Digital Services Act from operating a formal internal complaint-handling system, so we are not promising a review board or a deadline — but the mail is read, and decisions do get reversed. Your right to go to a court or a competent authority is unaffected.
10. Changes to this document
Material changes are announced by email, by in-product notice, and through the date and version history on this page.
Version history
- 2.3 — 10 October 2026 — Section 3 describes support links: up to three links to donation platforms at the foot of a work's page. Sections 1, 4 and 7 make clear that we pay creators nothing and take no part in payments made through those links, and that income from them is the creator's own affair. Section 6 forbids making a character or a world ask for money, subscriptions or ratings, inflating ratings, and putting other people's pages in the support field.

Removed Creator Credits and their earning formula and daily cap, the 1–5 star rating system and its Bayesian aggregation, creator identity verification, and the creator analytics dashboard — none of which exist. Corrected the requirement to publish: any paid plan, no application, no review.
