Age & Eligibility
This page describes who can use ASAI, how age is handled, and what a parent or guardian can do if they find a child using the service.

1. Minimum age — 16
You must be at least 16 years old to create or hold an ASAI account. This is the same minimum that applies across the whole APERTURESyndicate platform — see the Terms of Service.
We chose 16 rather than the lower floor some jurisdictions permit because it is the highest age set by any EU member state under Article 8 GDPR, and applying one number everywhere is simpler and safer than maintaining a different rule per country.
If you are under 16, please do not create an account. If we learn that an account holder is under 16, we close the account and delete the associated data.
2. What we check — and what we do not
2.1 We ask
Registration asks for your date of birth. That is the whole of it.
2.2 We do not verify
There is no age verification on ASAI. We do not check documents. We do not use a third-party identity service. We do not run age estimation on photos or on your behaviour. Nothing validates what you enter beyond arithmetic.
An earlier version of this page described document-based verification through a third-party provider and a tiered system of feature access by age. Neither exists. Neither is currently being built. We have removed those descriptions rather than leave you with the impression that a check is happening.
2.3 What that means in practice
A determined person under 16 can create an account. We are telling you this plainly because a parent deciding whether their child can use ASAI deserves an accurate picture, not a reassuring one.
If you need a real barrier, device-level controls (Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link, network-level filtering) are considerably more effective than anything we currently offer.
2.4 What we do when we find out
Where we become aware — through a report, through something a user tells us in support correspondence, or otherwise — that an account holder is under 16, we close the account and delete the data. We act on knowledge, not on suspicion, and we do not profile users to guess their age.
3. Adult content
ASAI does not host sexually explicit content. Mature themes, romance, tension and dark subject matter are permitted; explicit sexual acts are not. See the Community Guidelines and the Roleplay Content Policy for where the line sits.
Characters written for romantic or intimate contexts must be 18+ and consistently described as adults. There is no fantasy-age exception.
There is no "mature mode" and no way to unlock one. If that ever changes, it would require real age verification, which — per Section 2 — we do not currently have.
4. Parents and guardians
4.1 Removing a child's account
If you are the parent or legal guardian of someone under 16 with an ASAI account, we will close it and delete the data.
Email [email protected] with the subject "GDPR request — minor account" and include:
- The account email or username
- The child's approximate age
- A statement that you are the parent or legal guardian
- Reasonable proof of the relationship — we destroy this proof once we have verified it
We aim to respond within 5 business days and confirm what was deleted. This runs alongside the standard rights described in the Privacy Policy.
4.2 Parental controls
We do not offer parental controls, and we would rather say so than ship a setting that creates a false sense of oversight. What actually helps:
- Talk to your child about what they are using ASAI for
- Look at the chats together — they are visible to the account holder
- Use device-level controls (Screen Time, Family Link)
- Close the account (Section 4.1)
4.3 Reporting harm to a minor
Email [email protected]. For imminent danger, contact your local emergency services first.
If you have encountered child sexual abuse material, report it to your national hotline — NCMEC in the US, or your country's INHOPE member — and tell us so we can remove it. To be clear about our own role: we do not scan for such material, but where it is brought to our attention we remove it, preserve what the law requires, and report it to the competent authorities.
5. Data handling for younger users
For account holders under 18 we apply the platform's standard protections, which already amount to:
- No advertising. We do not run ads at all.
- No sale of data. We do not sell personal data to anyone, at any age.
- No training on your content unless you explicitly opt in — off by default for everyone. See AI Data & Training.
- No marketing email beyond what account operation requires.
- Deletion on request — see the Privacy Policy and Data Retention.
6. Geographic availability
ASAI is available globally. As an Republic of Estonia (EU) company we comply with EU sanctions regimes, so access from fully sanctioned regions may be blocked.
We do not currently geo-block any country for content reasons.

7. Changes to this policy
Material changes — particularly to the minimum age or to how age is checked — are announced at least 30 days in advance by email and in-product notice.
Version history
- 2.0 — 31 July 2026 — Minimum age raised from 13 to 16, matching the rest of the platform. Removed the 13–15 and 16–17 feature tiers, the described document-based age verification through a third-party provider, and the UK Online Safety Act age assurance statement — none of which reflected the product. Added an explicit statement that no age verification exists.
