Premium & Subscription Terms

Last updated: 2026-07-31The Resonance plans — Free, Premium, Symphony, Family and Creator — what each one unlocks, and what changes when a paid period ends.

Premium & Subscription Terms

These terms describe the plans available on Resonance — the free tier, Premium, Symphony, Family, and Creator — what each one unlocks, how family sharing works, how offline downloads work, and what changes when a paid period ends.

They apply in addition to the Resonance Terms of Service, which govern your use of Resonance generally, and to our platform-wide Refunds & Cancellation policy, which governs how billing, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refunds actually work. This document does not repeat those billing mechanics — it only covers what is specific to the Resonance plans.

These terms are published in good faith and are pending review by qualified EU/Estonian legal counsel; nothing here is a substitute for formal legal advice.

1. The plans

You must be at least 16 years old to hold an APERTURESyndicate account, and therefore to hold any Resonance plan.

PlanPriceWhat it is
FreeFull catalogue, library, playlists, and social features.
Premium€6/month or €60/yearLossless audio, offline downloads, the Locker, streak recovery, larger Listen Together rooms, and the full set of themes and audio effects.
Symphony€12/month or €100/yearEverything in Premium, with a larger Locker and much larger Listen Together rooms.
Family€16/month or €120/yearPremium for you and up to 4 other people you choose — 4 + 1 = five accounts in total.
Creator€7/month or €70/yearEverything in Premium, plus the right to publish your own music on Resonance. See the Creator & Distribution Terms.

Prices and availability may vary by region and may change over time. Where a change affects you, we notify you in advance in line with the Refunds & Cancellation policy.

There is no free trial on any Resonance plan. A paid plan starts, and is charged, as soon as you complete checkout.

Verified official artists receive Creator features free of charge without a Creator subscription; that is granted through artist verification, not purchased here.

2. What the free tier includes

Resonance is free to use without a subscription. On the free tier you get:

  • Unlimited listening. There is no daily track limit. Resonance previously capped free accounts at a number of tracks per day; that limit has been removed and is no longer enforced against any account.
  • The full catalogue, your library, saved tracks, playlists, follows, and the social features.
  • Audio at the low, normal, and high quality tiers.
  • The free themes.
  • Hosting a Listen Together session with up to 3 people in total, including you, and joining any session you are invited to — regardless of who hosts it.

What the free tier does not include is listed under each paid plan below.

3. Premium

Premium costs €6/month or €60/year and unlocks:

  1. Lossless audio. Free accounts can select low, normal, or high quality. Lossless is Premium-only: if you are not subscribed and request lossless playback, Resonance automatically falls back to high quality.
  2. Offline downloads. See Section 7.
  3. The Locker — your own private cloud storage for audio files you already have. Uploads require Premium; the rules, limits, and the important exceptions around your profile anthem and showcase are set out in the Locker Policy.
  4. Larger Listen Together rooms. A Premium host can have up to 31 people in the room in total, including the host. Room size is set by the host's plan alone — your guests do not each need Premium.
  5. Streak recovery. If you break your daily listening streak, Premium lets you restore it up to 3 times per calendar month, and only within a few days of the break. This is not available on the free tier.
  6. All themes and audio effects, and the other Premium-marked personalisation features in the app.

Resonance does not guarantee a specific bitrate, codec, or exact audio fidelity beyond the quality tier you selected — actual playback quality depends on your device, output hardware, and network conditions at the time.

4. Symphony

Symphony costs €12/month or €100/year. It includes everything in Premium and raises two limits:

  • A larger Locker — see the Locker Policy for the exact storage and track allowances per plan.
  • Much larger Listen Together rooms — up to 100 people in total, including the host.

5. Family

Family costs €16/month or €120/year. It gives Premium to you (the owner) and to up to 4 other people you add as members — five accounts in total, on one invoice.

Family is a household plan for people you actually know. Please read this section carefully, because it involves other people's accounts as well as your own.

5.1 Who can be a member

  • A member must have their own APERTURESyndicate account, and therefore must meet the minimum age of 16.
  • A person can be a member of only one family at a time. If someone is already in another family, you cannot add them until they are removed from it.
  • You cannot add yourself as your own member.
  • You are responsible for only adding people who agree to be added.

5.2 How members are added and removed

  • Only the owner adds and removes members. You add someone from the Family section in Settings by finding them by nickname. Members are identified internally by account ID; internal handles are never exposed to you or to anyone else.
  • There is currently no invitation or acceptance step. When you add someone, they are added immediately and their account gains Premium. There is likewise no "leave family" action for members — a member who wants out must ask the owner to remove them, or contact us at [email protected].
  • Adding someone is not neutral for them. It changes what their account can do and, through Premium, what features are available to them. Only add people who have agreed to it. If you are added to a family you did not agree to join, write to [email protected] and we will remove you.

5.3 What the owner can and cannot see

The owner sees only: the list of members (their public nickname and avatar) and the date each was added. That is all.

The owner does not see any member's listening activity, history, statistics, playlists, library, presence, Locker contents, or account settings. Being in someone's family gives them no visibility into what you listen to. A member's privacy settings work exactly as they do for any other account, and are described in the Privacy Addendum.

Equally, members can see the owner and the other members of the roster, and nothing more.

5.4 Listen Together on a Family plan

Family is a household plan, and its Listen Together rooms are sized accordingly: accounts on a Family plan — the owner and every member — host rooms of up to 5 people in total, including the host.

This is deliberately smaller than a standalone Premium room (31). If you want large rooms, Premium or Symphony is the plan for that; Family is for a household listening together, not for broadcasting.

5.5 When a member is removed

Removing a member takes effect immediately:

  • Their account stops being Premium at once, unless they hold a paid plan of their own. Everything in Section 8 then applies to them.
  • Their own library, playlists, follows, listening history, streak, and Locker files are not deleted, altered, or transferred to you. They keep their account exactly as it was; it simply stops being a Premium account.
  • The seat is freed and you can add someone else.

5.6 When the Family subscription ends

If you cancel the Family plan or it lapses:

  • Every member loses Premium when the paid period ends, at the same moment you do. Section 8 applies to all of you.
  • The roster is not deleted. Members remain on your list, and if you resubscribe to Family, their Premium is restored automatically without you having to add them again. If you would rather they were not on the list, remove them before or after cancelling.
  • Nobody's personal content is deleted as a result of the plan ending.

6. Creator

Creator costs €7/month or €70/year. It includes everything in Premium and adds the right to upload and publish music on Resonance, an artist page, and your artist analytics.

The terms that govern publishing — rights, warranties, the licence you grant us, and takedowns — are in the Creator & Distribution Terms. How earnings are calculated is in the Royalty & Payout Policy. Please read the payout section of that policy before subscribing: royalties accrue, but payouts have not launched yet.

7. Offline downloads

Premium (and every plan that includes Premium) lets you download catalogue tracks for offline playback. This is one of the features contemplated by Section 3 of the Resonance Terms of Service, which otherwise prohibits keeping a persistent local copy of catalogue content.

What you can do:

  • Download catalogue tracks — official releases and artist-uploaded tracks. Your own local files and your Locker files are not part of this feature; they already live on your device or in your own storage.
  • Play downloaded tracks in the Resonance app without a network connection.
  • Remove a download at any time from the app.

How it works, honestly:

  • A download is a copy of the audio stored by the Resonance app on your device — in the browser's local database on the web, or in the app's storage on desktop and mobile. It is stored for playback by Resonance and is not encrypted or otherwise technically protected.
  • We do not currently limit how many tracks you may download or how much space they take. We may introduce a limit in future; if we do, we will say so here first.
  • Downloads live on the device you made them on. They are not synced between your devices, and they are not a backup. Clearing your browser data, reinstalling the app, or switching devices removes them, and we cannot restore them.

What you may not do: downloading a track does not give you the file to keep, copy, or pass on. You may not extract, decrypt, convert, copy out, redistribute, or otherwise use a downloaded track outside the Resonance app, and you may not circumvent the download feature to obtain catalogue files. That remains prohibited under the Resonance Terms of Service.

When your plan ends: your licence to play downloaded tracks ends with your paid period, and you should remove your downloads. You will not be able to download anything new. Be aware that we do not currently delete existing downloads automatically or make them stop playing — that is a technical fact about how the feature is built today, not a permission to keep using them. We may add automatic expiry later.

8. What happens when a paid period ends

Subscribing to, cancelling, and getting a refund for any Resonance plan works exactly like any other paid plan on the platform — see Refunds & Cancellation for auto-renewal, cancellation, your 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services and the waiver we ask for at checkout, and refund eligibility. We do not restate that mechanism here.

What is specific to Resonance is what happens when a paid period ends — whether through cancellation, a failed renewal, or being removed from a family:

  • Your listening stays unlimited. There is no free-tier daily cap to fall back to.
  • Audio quality reverts to the highest non-lossless tier (high); any pending lossless playback falls back automatically.
  • Listen Together rooms you host are capped at 3 people total. You can still join sessions hosted by others, at whatever size their host's plan allows.
  • Streak recovery is no longer available.
  • Offline downloads: you cannot make new ones, and your licence to play existing ones ends — see Section 7.
  • The Locker: you cannot upload new files, and playing your Locker files back from the cloud requires an active plan again. You can still see and delete your Locker files — that never depends on paying us. Your profile anthem and showcase tracks keep working. See the Locker Policy.
  • Family: if you were the owner, every member loses Premium at the same time; if you were a member, only your own account is affected. See Section 5.
  • Creator: you can no longer publish new music. Royalties already accrued for completed periods are not cancelled — see the Royalty & Payout Policy.
  • Your playlists, saved library, follows, listening history, streak, and uploaded files are not affected. Nothing is deleted as a result of a plan ending.
