SoundCloud Import

A Resonance artist can link their SoundCloud profile — and the new tracks they publish there will then appear on Resonance by themselves, without a manual upload. This page explains exactly what we bring over, when, and on what terms. It applies in addition to the Creator & Distribution Terms and the Artist Agreement; the service is operated by APERTURESyndicate OÜ ("APERTURESyndicate", "we", "us", "our").

These terms are published in good faith and are pending review by qualified EU/Estonian legal counsel; nothing here is a substitute for formal legal advice.

Import is switched on only by linking the profile. The artist links their SoundCloud in Creators Studio (https://creators.aperturesyndicate.com) or gives it in the artist application — when applying for an existing artist, the SoundCloud profile link is required. If the artist has no APERTURESyndicate account, our team can do the linking — only with the artist's own consent.

Linking the profile is the artist's consent to automatic import. A SoundCloud link shown on the artist's public card is not consent and triggers nothing.

2. What gets imported

  • Only what is new. At the moment of linking we record the tracks already on the profile and import only those that appear after linking. Nothing is imported retroactively: older tracks, including remixes of other people's songs, stay on SoundCloud only.
  • Only the artist's own. We take tracks the profile published itself. Reposts, likes, and other people's tracks are not imported.
  • How often. We check the profile roughly every two days. You can trigger a check right away yourself — with a button in Creators Studio.

3. What comes with a track

  • Audio — in the quality SoundCloud serves the track publicly. It may be lower than the master. Replacing the audio of an already imported track in Studio is not possible at the moment: for listeners to get the master, upload the original file in Creators Studio as a regular release and unpublish the imported copy.
  • Cover art, title, release date, the explicit flag and ISRC, where they are set on SoundCloud.
  • Genre and tags — mapped to our genre and mood vocabularies; anything not in the vocabularies is not carried over.
  • Language — guessed from the script of the title.
  • Collaborators — featured artists and producers named in the title ("ft.", "w/", "prod.") are credited on the track if such an artist exists in the Resonance catalogue.
  • A link to the original on SoundCloud — on the track page.

After import, all of this can be edited in Studio like any of your own tracks. The artist is responsible for the accuracy of the metadata (Section 9 of the Creator & Distribution Terms).

4. Publication

An imported track is published immediately, not saved as a draft. It goes through the same processing as a manual upload — audio analysis and the quality ladder — and the artist's followers get the usual new-release notification. Royalties on it accrue under the general rules of the Royalty & Payout Policy.

If a track fails to import, we retry it at the next check; the reason for the error is visible in Studio.

5. How to stop the import

Unlinking the profile in Creators Studio stops the import of new tracks immediately. Tracks already imported stay on Resonance until the artist deletes or unpublishes them.

Deleting a track on SoundCloud does not remove it from Resonance automatically. If a track should no longer be here, delete or unpublish it in Studio.

6. Rights warranty

By linking a profile, the artist warrants that it is their own profile and that they hold the rights to everything that will be imported from it — to exactly the extent of Section 3 of the Creator & Distribution Terms. Each imported track counts as uploaded by the artist themselves, and the same terms and the same licence apply to it as to a manual upload.

Linking someone else's profile is a violation: we remove the imported tracks, record a strike under the Copyright & Takedown Policy, and may withdraw the account's artist status.

7. SoundCloud is a separate service

SoundCloud is an independent service. APERTURESyndicate is not affiliated with or endorsed by SoundCloud. The artist's SoundCloud account is governed by SoundCloud's terms; our documents do not apply to it.

8. Rightsholder complaints

Complaints about imported tracks are accepted the same way as for any other content — under the Copyright & Takedown Policy, via https://report.aperturesyndicate.com or [email protected]. A track removed on a valid complaint does not come back on later checks of the profile.

Our removal does not affect the track on SoundCloud — to have it removed there, contact SoundCloud.
